2025: Year of the N.A.P.

We’re collecting feedback from the community to put into a cohesive, actionable plan to help West Hazel Dell thrive. From community service to advocacy, committees, and neighborhood events, we want the West Hazel Dell Neighborhood Association to be a resource that reflects your desires. Get in touch with us to share your ideas and join your neighbors so that West Hazel Dell remains a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

The Plan So Far…

We’ve received feedback from a variety of community stakeholders including educators, community leaders, parents, business owners, students, and neighbors. Some common objectives have emerged. Below are some of the most common ideas we have heard so far.

Most popular ideas:

  • Family-friendly events for kids and adults of all ages
  • Projects that connect schools with neighbors
  • Block parties and seasonal events for neighbors to meet each other
  • Community service projects that connect kids with the elderly
  • Opportunities for students of all ages to learn about community service
  • Advocating for a more walkable/bikeable West Hazel Dell

Projects and Committees

In order to accomplish our goals, we need neighbors who are excited about working to improve their community. A few hours a month is all you need to make a huge difference in the neighborhood association. Here are some of the committees we have planned for 2025. If you’re interested in joining, no experience is necessary! Just click the name of the committee or the “volunteer” link below.

Youth Leadership and Events

It’s all about getting young folks involved in their community! We want our children to understand that it’s not only their right, but their responsibility to help their community to thrive. Park clean-ups, guided nature walks, gifts and visits to the elderly, and much much more. We need adults and kids of all ages to get involved.

Active Transportation

“Active Transportation” is all about human-powered movement like biking, walking, skateboarding, and…scootering? We need your help to complete active transportation reports in our area. Reports will be compiled and submitted to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee of Clark County, as well as the Clark County Council, Public Works, and other leaders. If you’ve ever wished there were more bike lines, sidewalks, cleaner shoulders crosswalks, signs, and safety considerations for cyclists and pedestrians – get involved!

Community Safety

Many neighbors come to WHDNA with safety concerns including traffic issues, property crimes, and fire safety. As part of the Community Safety Committee you can help ensure that our neighborhood has a voice in matters of public safety. CSC can also help us keep traffic, crime, and safety issues from occupying all of our time at meetings by making regular reports to the membership and communicating directly with our Sheriff’s office liaison.

Other Committees

There are many other potential committees dealing with emergency preparedness, aging, events, waste collection, and so much more. The above committees represent the most requested resources from our community so far. If you have feedback or ideas, please submit them to our Neighborhood Action Plan.

We strongly encourage you to volunteer just a few hours a month to one (or more!) of your WHDNA committees. Help your neighbors and your neighbors will help you!
